In the Multiple Disabilities Classroom, specific time is dedicated each day to Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), with a focus on the crucial areas of play and self-care. While these tasks often come naturally to children in general education, they present significant learning challenges for the students in this classroom. Play, a cornerstone of child development, can be particularly demanding for them.
The FPEF funded 14 play sets that provide numerous opportunities for children to engage in structured play, where teachers can model functional interaction. This approach not only introduces students to new toys but also teaches them how to play independently and with peers, while developing foundational skills like personal hygiene and caring for their surroundings. Ultimately, these tools will be instrumental in setting the students on a path toward greater independence and future success.
