Recess Reimagined

Together we can enhance the recess experience at Briarwood and Brooklake Elementary Schools!

  • Total raised $1,568.69!

  • Over 18,000 coins counted

  • Most Coins Counted = Mrs. Martinez with 2,698 coins

  • Most Coins per Student = Mrs. Ford with 174.8 coins each

Our first Briarwood Fundraiser for Recess Reimagined!

Small Change = Big Impact! Results of the Making Change Fundraiser

Briarwood Elementary students brought in their coins!

From February 3rd to 7th, students filled classroom collection jars with coins. The 2nd grade classroom of Mrs. Martinez won for most coins: a total of 2,698 coins. Mrs. Ford's inclusive preschool classroom won for most coins per student: 874 coins each!

All money raised will go towards new recess games for Briarwood as part of the Recess Reimagined initiative. These new games will be delivered in Spring 2025! Winning classrooms will receive an extra recess period and be the first to play with the new equipment. Thank you to Briarwood administrators, staff, teachers, and families for making this a success!

Let's keep the momentum -- Donate, sponsor, or volunteer!

In addition to school fundraising and individual donations, we are seeking support from corporate grants, business sponsors, and landscaping firms. Please share any contacts that would be a beneficial partner for us!

Recess Reimagined

Introducing Recess Reimagined, an ambitious $115,000 vision to enhance the recess experience at Briarwood and Brooklake Elementary School.

This innovative project encompasses three key components:

  • New Recess Equipment: In partnership with Principals Serfozo and Foster, we will provide new games for Briarwood, upgrade the recess areas at Brooklake with new soccer nets, a volleyball net, repainted kickball, basketball, and 4-square courts.

  • The Creative Courtyard: A collaborative effort with the child study team at Brooklake School to beautify and transform the courtyard into an inclusive and sensory friendly play area featuring an outdoor playground set, garden, greenhouse, music and art area, quiet reading nook, and play equipment.

  • Student Art Contest: We will invite students to submit their ideas for a mural in the Creative Courtyard and to design the basketball keys. Their input will be invaluable in shaping this exciting project.
