Lumber for Garden Clubs awarded to Ms. Williver at Brooklake and Ms. Barta at Ridgedale

For Brooklake

Building Brooklake's Garden: Brooklake School now has a Gardening Club, similar to the Botany Club at RMS. The students at Brooklake will grow vegetables and flowers for all to enjoy at Brooklake School. Brooklake will need garden boxes which will be built in the courtyard which receives a good amount of sun, and also has a water spout for a hose. The garden boxes will be 8 feet long, 4 feet wide and 2 feet tall. The garden club would also donate any excess of grown fruits or vegetables to the community food pantry.

For RMS

The Botany Club is interested in working on a pollinator garden for Ridgedale Middle School. This project would hopefully house a fence, raised beds, along with native plants that will not only provide colorful flowers but also help the local pollinators return to the area. Current research shows that pollinator populations are extremely low and they are vital to the food chain process. The botany club students would not only assist in building the garden but also maintain it for years to come.
