26 Culturally Relevant Preschool Book awarded to Mrs. Spindler at Briarwood

This grant will foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all students, particularly in early elementary classrooms where children may struggle to verbalize their feelings. Inspired by an "Accelerated ELL Students' Learning in Pre-K" workshop, the goal is to ensure every child feels represented and valued by seeing their own cultural backgrounds reflected in the classroom literature. These books are crucial for enhancing children's sense of belonging and importance by providing diverse representation.

“I want to make sure that all children feel welcome and represented when looking around the classroom, especially in the books that we read.” - Kristen Spindler

"Dear FPEF, Thank you for accepting and funding my grant for classroom books. I have already started using them as part of our Beginning of the Year unit. I appreciate your support in making the classroom a place where everyone feels welcome. Thank you again for your support and generosity." - Mrs Spindler
